Helen O'Grady was one clever lady when she started developing her brilliant drama curriculum. Not only are the lessons jam-packed with fun activities but they are also very developmental. Students can attend a class with no drama background at all, or they can be experienced, they take from the lesson what they need and I believe that both students would have found the lesson completely beneficial! I was chatting to some of my Randpark
youth students this afternoon and we were having a great big discussion with how beneficial they have found our lessons; Tiro a student who has been with the academy since 2008 said that drama has helped her learn when to tone down and not be "too in peoples faces", her twin brother Thulo who has also attended the lessons since 2008 said that unlike his extroverted sister he need a confidence boost and that's exactly what the drama has done. It just shows that this is a truly self-development program; whether you attend for 5 years or even 1 you will take from it what you need. Each lesson is completely planned out and students can attend from the age of 5 all the way up to 18 and would never have repeated a lesson. Below is a pic of our teenage students in class; from left: Sarah has been with us for 2 years, tiro started with us 5 years ago and Anshcke have been attending lessons for 3 years:)

Olivedale Community gets treated to Drama on Thursdays
Every Thursday the Olivedale Community is able to participate in Drama at the local library on President Fouche Drive. The classes are very affordable, developmental, convenient and fun! Megan teaches these classes from 3pm-4pm for the littlies; and from 4pm-5pm for the biggies. Check out this shot of the very talented Olivedale group warming up with Megs. Call me for a free trial lesson:)

Tomorrow our Boskruin/Randpark students return to Randpark United Church for their weekly drama classes! The studio is so popular that we have very few spots available :) so if you want to join you better move fast.
At 3pm our 5-8 year old actors will meet for their very first lesson and we will kick the lesson off with fun, speech-developing activities! I don't want to give too much away for their lesson; but I can say that the play they will create tomorrow involves something that is very close to their little hearts - LOOSING A TOOTH :)
Our Upper Primary class for ages 9-12 years, has always been a jam-packed group - this year is no different! The lesson is full of confidence-building improvisations. I am very excited for this group to create their own scenes that involves something that is close to their hearts - school!
From 5pm-6pm the Boskruin Youth Group will attend their first Youth class. This year we have loads of students moving up from the Upper Primary Class - I cannot wait to see the talent of this group! We already had very talented and creative teens in the Youth Group but with the addition of so many experienced Upper Primary students this year is going to be AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

Colourful Costume Creations
The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy held its end of year productions at the end of November. We challenged our students to create there own costumes for the plays...the students showed their true colours when they arrived to their dress rehearsals fully kitted and as bright as ever. Take a look at some of the exciting 'costumes for the Pirate Joe Play:
Our older students had to put together outfits for a play all about the circus - just look at some of the bright ideas:
