Blairgowrie Parent Presentations

Our drama Classes ended for the term at Blairgowrie Recreation Centre yesterday...we ended on a high! The students between the ages of 5-15 years showcased a series of work that they had been working in for the past term. The presentation was filled with improvisations, scripts, monologues, speech work, a choral verse and much much more; it was a wonderful showcase of drama and performance! Classes start up again 22 July.

Open Teenage workshop at Norscot Recreation Centre

Our teenagers at the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy Norscot studio treated a bunch of their parents and friends to a viewing of an open lesson! The drama teacher at Norscot, Megan facilitated the hour of improvisations, scripts and drama games. The class did an amazing job at entertaining all of us and blew the crowd away with their dramatic skills. Teenage drama classes run every Saturday at the Norscot Recreation Centre for any teenager between the ages of 13-18 years.

Drama Fun in the Sun

Spring has Sprung and we couldnt be more delighted!!! The kids and I were so happy to finally feel the warmth of spring that we decided to run class on the lawns of Fourways Gardens Estate.

The day started off with the Lower Primary Group arrivivg to class dressed up in any crazy gear that they could find...Look at us showing off in front of the camera...

Here we are posing under the lapa - what an awesome group:)
The Upper Primary Group also came to class all dressed up and ready to learn! We decided that the best way to enjoy the wonderful warmth was to learn mini-scripts on the lawn...

This class was so focused on the work that they didnt even notice anyone around us, they learnt their lines  with focus and determination! Afterwards they went off and rehearsed their own endings. Working outdoors can be challenging as noise levels are quiet loud, but they projected their voices like real amphitheatre performers:)

All I can say is getting out of the classroom and into the garden was a brilliant way to celebrate the warmth of SPRING!!!

REHEARSALS OFF TO A GREAT START

Term 2 at the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy is always a stressful one for the teachers - but boy do the students have fun!

Helen O'Grady Teachers have been very busy in class preparing for the Schools annual Parent Presentations. The parents can look forward to some great performances as the kids are really pulling their weight in class! The curriculum for the term is jam-packed with loads of mini-scripts, scripted plays and a choral verse that challenges every individual in class.

Even though the term is riddled with public holidays, we're not going to let it hold us back one bit - our students are so talented they should make up South Africas very first GLEE CLUB!!!
