Today I taught at the Fourways Gardens Estate and we themed our class 'Cats'! We asked the drama pupils to come along dressed as cats but we asked them to be as creative as possible-We had ginger cats, tabby cats, black cats and even pink cats! During the lesson we did a mime to music which is when students act out a story to music and they have to rely on their bodies and faces to express what's happening in the story-they aren't allowed to use their voices so it forces them to communicate in other ways. Today we did an 'Alley Cats' mime to music and the students dressed as cats were able to tell the story with clarity and real expression. You would think boys wouldn't enjoy this movement section, but the stories of our mime to music curriculum is such fun that they truly embrace the whole thing! Drama really is for everyone, big and small, shy and bold, quiet and loud and boy and girl!
